Fish Net Snood Pattern

Materials Required:
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
“AUNT LYDIA’S” HEAVY RUG YARN
2 – 70 yd. skeins White
Plastic Crochet Hook Size J
Ch 5, join to form a ring. 1st ROUND: * Ch 5, sl st in ring, repeat from * 6 times, ch 2, d c in ring (This brings yarn in posi­tion for next round). 2nd ROUND: Ch 5, sl st in next loop, repeat from beg all around ending with ch 2, d c in d c (8 loops). 3rd ROUND: Sl st in same loop, * ch 5, sl st in same loop, ch 5, sl st in next loop, repeat from * all around ending last repeat with ch 2, d c in 1st sl st (16 loops). 4th ROUND: Repeat 2nd round. 5th ROUND: Repeat 3rd round (32 loops). NEXT 9 ROUNDS: Repeat 2nd round. 15th ROUND: S c in same loop, * ch 2, s c in next loop, repeat from * all around ending with s c in 1st s c. 16th ROUND: * Ch 1, s c in next s c, repeat from * all around, join. Repeat last round 3 times, cut yarn.
BOW: Ch 8, s c in 2nd st from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 ch, s c in next ch, repeat from * twice, ch 1 to turn each row. 2nd ROW: S c in 1st s c, * ch 1, s c in next s c, repeat from * across row. Repeat 2nd row until bow measures 6 inches, cut yarn. Sew bow in position.

The Blossom Hat Pattern

Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY “STAR” FAST HEAVY CROCHET MERCERIZED COTTON, Article 140
3 balls Blue Ice or color of your choice for Hat.
Steel crochet hook No. 0.

GAUGE: 13 s c = 2 inches. 7 rounds = 1 inch.

Each flower measures 1 ¼ inches in diameter.

HAT

Starting at center of crown, ch 2, 6 s c in 2nd st from hook, do not join this or following rounds. Place a marker at the beginning of each round.

2nd Round: 2 s c in each s c.

3rd Round: * 2 s c in next s c, 1 s c in next s c, repeat from * all around.

4th Round: Increase 6 sts evenly spaced all around but not directly over increases of previous round. Repeat the last round 15 times. Piece should measure 5 ¾ inches in diameter. Work even until hat measures 5 ¾ inches from center.

BRIM: Next Round: * 1 s c in each of the next 6 s c, 2 s c in next s c, repeat from * all around ending with 1 s c in each of the last 2 s c. Work 11 rounds even, sl st in next s c to even round, cut thread. Turn under the last 3 rounds and sew to inside of hat.

FLOWERS: Ch 5, join to form a ring, * ch 3, d c in ring, ch 3, sl st in ring, repeat from * 4 times, join, cut thread. Work 32 more flowers in same manner. With “star” mercerized sewing thread sew around brim of hat as illustrated sewing one flower on top of crown.

Pigtail Beanie Pattern

COATS & CLARK’S O.N.T. “SPEED-CRO-SHEEN” MER­CERIZED COTTON, Art. C.44: 2 balls of No. 1 White; and

J. & P. COATS “KNIT-CRO-SHEEN” METALLIC, Art. A.64: 2 balls of No. M.1 White.

Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0 (double zero).

1 yard of ribbon, 1½ inches wide.

Use one strand each of “Speed-Cro-Sheen” and “Knit-Cro-Sheen” Metallic together throughout.

GAUGE: 4 sts make 1 inch; 2 sc rnds and 1 star stitch rnd make 1 inch.

Starting at center, ch 2. 1st rnd: 7 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. 3rd rnd: Ch 3, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook and draw loop through, insert hook in next ch and draw loop through, insert hook in back loop of same sc as sl st and draw loop through, insert hook in back loop of next sc and draw loop through, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook, ch 1 to fasten (a star st made), * insert hook in fastening ch and draw loop through, insert hook in last loop of previous star st and draw loop through, insert hook in back loop of same sc as last loop of previous star st was made and draw loop through, insert hook in back loop of next sc and draw loop through, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook, ch 1 (another star st made). Repeat from * around. Join to 3rd ch of ch-3 (14 star sts). 4th rnd: Ch 1, * sc in top of next star st, sc in fastening ch of same star st. Repeat from * around. Join (28 sc). 5th rnd: Repeat 3rd rnd (28 star sts). 6th rnd: Ch 1, * sc in top of next 2 star sts, sc in next fastening ch (1 sc increased). Repeat from * around. Join (42 sc). 7th rnd: Repeat 3rd rnd. 8th rnd: Ch 1, sc in each star st, increasing 14 sc evenly around. Join. 9th to 12th rnds incl: Repeat 7th and 8th rnds alternately 2 more times. 13th rnd: Repeat 3rd rnd.14th rnd: Ch 1, sc in each star st around. 15th and 16th rnds: Repeat 13th and 14th rnds. Turn. Next rnd: With wrong side facing, sl st in each sc around. Join and break off.

BRAID … Wind one strand each of “Speed-Cro- Sheen” and “Knit-Cro-Sheen” Metallic 99 times around an 18-inch ruler, tie piece of thread securely around one end. Divide strands into 3 equal sections and make a braid. Tie ribbon in a bow 3 inches from bottom. Cut loose ends and trim evenly. Sew braid securely to center of Beanie.
