Crochet Hat Patterns For Kids

The following cute girl hats are really my favorites…I guess that’s because I love flowers on everything..and I believe most girls do too! In order to make the newsboy hat, you need to have intermediate crochet skills while the beanie hat pattern is a perfect crochet hat pattern for beginners.

The Sun Hat is absolutely adorable and comes with a pattern suited for the novice crocheter.  This pattern is a temptation for me….I think I have to start making one…soon it is Spring, and I have at least two small girls I know that would love to wear this hat when the sun shows up…I guess their mummies will be happy too:)

Some tips on how to crochet a hat;

A hat has to fit the person that shall wear it, and in order to get a nice fit; think of this:

  • Measure the head in order to be able to modify the pattern.
  • Check the gauge if there is any for the hat pattern – that will give you an idea on how close your crochet style is to the style given in the pattern!
  • One way of getting the right size of the hat is to choose larger or smaller hooks.

On this crochet hat page I have also added some free tutorial patterns on how to crochet hats, and also some amazing vintage hat patterns that you have to try sometime!

    Hi, I want to crochet a proper hat for a female friend – with a crown and a circular brim all around, not just a cap or beanie. Nothing too fancy as I have some beautiful variegated wool ready to use. Can you please suggest some patterns? Many thanks!

      Hi! Your friend is lucky having you crochet for her! I have a few suggestions for you; I put links here so you can just go check them out if you like: The first pattern is: Ribbed Brim hat, that I think is very pretty. The second suggestion has a rolled brim: Darling Crochet Roll Brim Cloche Hat. And then one other pattern; a simple brim hat: Brim Cloche. I think that hat is nice and of course; you do not need to add the flowers if you want a “cleaner” look. Hope that gave you some ideas…Good luck and thank you for stopping by!
