Different Stitches – Different Scarf Crochet Patterns

The art of crocheting scarves starts with which type of stitch you use. There’s the basic slip stitch, the more challenging triple stitch, the half double stitch, and so many others, each with its own distinctive appearance and density. From there, the handful of different stitch types can be used to weave dozens of different patterns.

Some patterns work better for women, others for men, some can be unisex, but each has its own special flair and unique look.

Selecting The Right Scarf Pattern For You

Remember though: selecting the right scarf is about more than just, “How hot will I look in this?” You have to ask, “How hot will I be in this?!” A major consideration when purchasing (or making) a crochet scarf is how warm will it be.

If it is a tight stitch or pattern, it will keep you pretty toasty, but if it is a bit less dense, you can still wear it when the sun comes out. You should never, though, be scared away from your favorite pattern because it could be a little too warm!

Don’t forget that you are the last weaver; you wrap the scarf around yourself, and there are almost too many ways to do so. The square knot, the double knot, the infinity loop, the double wrap neck knot are just a few, and they all look great and have different levels of ventilation.

With a more lacy pattern, you can still bundle up in the adorably warm double knot, or with a tighter pattern, you can still maintain your cool playful self with the square knot
