Some Fast Tips For Crocheting Toys:

  • In order to prevent the stuffing from poking out, you might need to make your crochet stitches real tight.
  • One other tip for keeping the stuffing inside the toy is to put the stuffing in an old sock before you fill the toy – that will keep your crocheted toy baby safe!
  • Polyester filling makes the toy feel soft and nice.
  • Did you know there is such thing as “stuffing fork”? It will help you fill the small parts like arms and legs etc. Without help that can be a tricky part of making your own toys.

If you make your own baby toys, you will not only have the fun making them, but you are also having full control on what materials you use, and what filling you have in it! We don’t want to give bad stuff to our kids. I love the eyes on the patterns below….! All three of these patterns are a little more advanced that for beginners.

You need to have at least intermediate crochet skills to make the Nelson owl and the dragon, while the spectacular cat pattern is an advanced pattern. But don’t be intimidated, why not try it out even if you feel like you will not make it?

I don’t know about you, but I have noticed that I like challenges; I like to stretch myself a bit, and it usually works out in the end. Maybe the item I am crocheting will not be perfect, but at least while trying I learned a lot and it made me a better crocheter anyhow! The key is to never give up, but to figure it out even if it takes a little bit of time! If you decide to crochet one of the patterns below, please tell us your progress! You can use the contact form at the end of this page!
